The thought of a boudoir session can be scary! It’s normal for women to have a ton of questions about their shoot. I wanted to compile a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for your boudoir session with me!

 

I AM A PRIVATE PERSON – WILL YOU SHARE MY IMAGES?

Who gets to see your photos is entirely up to you! I will always ask you as part of my procedure, but I will never, ever make you sign a model release. If you choose to let me share your images, awesome!  We would of course LOVE to share your images to show other woman how empowering a boudoir experience can be. However, boudoir portraits show an intimate part of you and I want you to be in control of that. YOUR PRIVACY IS MY TOP CONCERN.

 

DO I HAVE TO WEAR LINGERIE?

NO! While lingerie is the most common choice for outfits during your boudoir session, there are a bunch of outfit ideas we can go with! If you feel most comfortable in your honey’s flannel, we can use that! The options are really endless.

 

DO YOU HAVE PAYMENT PLANS?

Yes! We offer a few zero percent interest payment plans to make your dream package affordable! Think of it like a layaway program, but for your boudoir shoot and products! My clients love this payment plan option so that the only thing they worry about on the day of their shoot is to sit back, get pampered and walk out feeling like a bad b*tch.

 

IS HAIR AND MAKEUP INCLUDED?

Hair and makeup is included in all of our boudoir shoots! I think it’s really important for you to feel pampered, and having your hair makeup done as a great way to do that! The amazing makeup artists that I work with can help you complete your look, whether that’s natural or full on glam! Feel free to bring any ideas that you want for your makeup and the artist will use that for inspiration!

 

WILL YOU PHOTOSHOP MY IMAGES?

I do edit your images for light, exposure, and color balance as well as run light skin smoothing. I do not however, edit “out” anything That is permanent! I think it can be damaging to have a boudoir session done, and then edit out parts of yourself that make you who you are. Part of the process of accepting yourself and seeing your true beauty, also means not photoshopping out parts of yourself that you don’t like. In other words, I’m not going to shape shift you!!

If there are parts of yourself that you are learning to love and aren’t thrilled about, that is OK! I ask this in my client questionnaire. We are skilled in posing and lighting to make you look your absolute best!

WHERE SHOULD I BUY MY OUTFITS?

Upon booking you boudoir shoot, I send you a lingerie prep guide to help you out if you choose to shop for some new lingerie. A couple of my favorite places are Playful Promises, Lounge Underwear, Bluebella and believe it or not…Amazon! But my guide has a long list of store to shop from that fit all budgets.

The best part though…you really don’t have to shop at all! Part of your boudoir experience includes access to my CLIENT CLOSET! I have an array or lingerie in many styles and colors from size XS to 5X as well as body jewelry and luxury Angel Wings!

 

WHAT TYPE OF PRINT PRODUCTS DO YOU HAVE?

We offer a variety of couture albums and luxury glass boxes with prints in them as well as gorgeous metal wall art, retro viewfinders and even custom self-love affirmation cards! It is absolutely so different seeing your pictures in print! It’s surreal to see yourself in a beautiful album from your shoot that you can flip through at anytime. My clients often tell me they flip through their album frequently just to remind themselves how amazing they are!

DO YOU OFFER DIGITALS?

All of our premade collections include print products and some of the collections have digitals as well. On our a la carte menu you will find the option to purchase digital images or an entire digital collection.

 

I AM FREAKING OUT! HOW CAN I CALM MY NERVES?

Honestly, nerves are all part of the experience! I always say that it would probably be weird if you were not nervous. The nervousness in the beginning of your shoot makes your moment of wow and seeing your photos for the first time that much better. I promise you, once you are done with hair and makeup and we start pumping the music, you will already begin to feel more relaxed. I will then show each and every pose and you will just mirror me. Once I show you a couple of pictures on the back of the camera, it’s on!

In addition, I send every client that books a shoot a prep guide that typically answers all those nervous questions leading up to the day of your shoot!

HOW MANY OUTFITS SHOULD I BRING?

I typically ask clients to bring at least one outfit that they know they already love but that you will always have access to my client closet to try on additional pieces. The number of looks that we will do will be based on the collection that you choose. But at a minimum we always do at least 2-3 looks.

 

SHOULD I GET TO MY SHOOT EARLY?

If you plan on utilizing my client closet, I ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of makeup so that we can go through the outfits that you have brought as well as give you time to try on outfits from the closet. Otherwise,  just allow yourself enough travel time to be on time!

 

WHERE IS YOUR STUDIO LOCATED?

My studio is located in Gainesville VA. We’re convenient to the Washington DC metro area but many clients travel from much farther!
